Dr. Ashley Sullivan
Dr. Sullivan (“Sully”) recalls when she was 5 years-old how she loved playing with her black Labrador Retriever, Pepper, and the “critters” on her grandmother’s farm. “Those trips to the farm definitely sparked my love for animals. I have always had a tender heart for the hurting and sick. This passion is what drove me to a career of caring for others.”
The next step in Dr. Sully’s career came when she was 14 and volunteered in a veterinary hospital. Then it was off to Western Kentucky University, where she majored in animal science and biology. In 2012, upon graduation from the Tuskegee University in Alabama, Ashley Sullivan became Dr. Ashley Sullivan, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
“My mom has always shown me the importance of hard work and achieving my goals and dreams. She was so supportive in making my dream of becoming a veterinarian come true.”
In addition to her mom, Dr. Sullivan cites Drs. Charles Bobb and Brenna Roth, the first veterinarians she worked for after graduation from Tuskegee. “They were amazing mentors, and I learned so much from them.”
When she’s not taking care of clients’ pets, she’s taking care of Penny, her Shih Tzu mix. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, quilting, and “anything outdoors.” Oh, and ice hockey. “My three younger brothers and I grew up loving ice hockey and I still do to this day!”
Dr. Sullivan joined Tates Creek Animal Hospital in 2017 and calls it her “forever home.” “I love giving my clients and their pets the absolute best care, which, in part, is possible because I work with this great team here.”
